It might be the last time that MS Dhoni will play at the iconic Eden Gardens as Kolkata Knight Riders will host the Chennai Super Kings in match 57 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on May 7 (Wednesday) in Kolkata.
However, that hasn’t impacted KKR at all, as per their head coach Chandrakant Pandit. The Kolkata side is still in the race to make the playoffs.
"During these kinds of games, every player and every team is always focused on their own game. I mean, that’s sometimes, like, if a batter is batting and there is so much noise around and if you ask that batter, he will probably say that ‘I didn’t hear anything about it.” Pandit was quoted as saying by Indian Express, ahead of the game.
“Sometimes we just ignore that noise automatically. So, obviously, when you are focused on the game, it does not matter so much if you ask me,” he added.
At 11 points from the same number of games, KKR would be looking to get to 13 and keep them inside the top five of the IPL 2025 points table to cause trouble for the other teams.
CSK, led by Dhoni himself, who has had an emotional connect with Eden Gardens, are out of the race.
