KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill are three batters who have had a phenomenal tour with the bat so far in England. The trio have multiple tons already in the series.
Pant and Rahul looked solid in the middle on Day 3 of the Lord’s Test. However, Pant got run out, trying to get Rahul back on strike and give him a chance of reaching his century before lunch.
Reacting to that run-out, Rahul was remorseful and disappointed that the Indian wicketkeeper-batter had to get out on 74 and miss a deserving century.
"There was a conversation a couple of overs before that. I told him that I would get my hundred if possible before lunch. And with Bashir bowling that last over before lunch, I thought there was a good chance for me to get it,” Rahul was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz at the end of the Day 3 press conference.
"He just wanted to rotate strike and see if he could put me back on strike. But, yeah, it shouldn't have happened: a run-out at that stage really changed the momentum. It was disappointing for both of us. Obviously, nobody wants to throw their wicket like that," added Rahul.
Rahul eventually got to a hundred after lunch and was dismissed right after that. India were then bowled out for 387, levelling England's first innings total.
