NEWSIndia and New Zealand have already set their bases in England for the inaugural World Test Championship final, set to go underway from June 18 in Southampton. While New Zealand's journey has been steered by their dominance at home, India beat Australia in Australia and West Indies in West Indies to kick start proceedings. The only series, which, they, in fact, lost was to New Zealand in early 2020.
For Gundappa Viswanath, the contest will eventually boil down to how well India bowlers would hold against the Kiwi batsmen. "It will be India bowlers vs the New Zealand batsmen in the WTC final. India's bowling is super strong right now. Look at Shami, Bumrah, Siraj and Ishant. They all are in good touch. Siraj did a wonderful job in Australia. I am sure he will do the job for Virat in the WTC final too," Viswanath told TimesofIndia.com.
"Both the teams will be playing at a neutral venue. It will be a good contest. New Zealand are a good side. India can't take them lightly. The atmosphere will be different," Viswanath told Timesofindia.com in an exclusive interview.
However, Viswanath admitted that India hold an edge over the Kane Williamson-led side. "India have an edge over New Zealand. It will be an exciting clash. Winning in Australia and vs England will be a confidence booster for India in the WTC final," the former stylish batter added.
