It Will Definitely Be RCB: AB de Villiers Opens Up On Possible IPL Return

The former South Africa skipper scored over 5,000 runs in the IPL

One of the greatest players to grace the Indian Premier League (IPL), AB de Villiers, has opened up about a possible return to the tournament in the future. He scored over 5,000 runs in the tournament, with most of them coming for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Despite calling time on his IPL career in 2022, the former South Africa captain has not completely ruled out a return to the cash-rich league.

"I might be involved with the IPL again in the future in a different role, but committing to a full season in a professional capacity is really tricky, and I believe those days are done. That said, you never say never. My heart is with RCB and always will be. So, if the franchise feels there's a role for me [as a coach or mentor], when my time is right and ready, it will definitely be RCB," de Villiers told IANS.

During his stint with RCB, he formed an excellent partnership with Virat Kohli, with whom he shared many memorable partnerships. In recognition of his contributions to the franchise, the 41-year-old was inducted into the RCB Hall of Fame in 2022 along with Chris Gayle. The Bengaluru franchise ended their drought by winning their maiden title earlier this year.
