It Will Take RCB 72 Years To Win Five IPL Titles: Ambati Rayudu

RCB finally ending their long wait for an IPL title in 2025

Former Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu has shared his delight at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally ending their long wait for an IPL title in 2025. However, he also pulled RCB’s leg with a light-hearted remark about their pace of winning trophies.

“I was very happy when RCB won the title. People were bursting crackers in my colony. RCB fans are spread all across the country," Rayudu said on the Unfiltered Podcast with Shubhankar Mishra.

"At this rate, if they have won a title after 18 years, it will take them 72 years to win five titles. They will have to speed up a bit. I think RCB are on the right path and I am really enjoying the way they are playing."

RCB finally got their hands on the IPL trophy after 18 years, winning nine of their 14 league games before defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) twice in the playoffs, including in the final.

Rayudu knows a thing or two about winning silverware. He is one of only two players, alongside Rohit Sharma, to have lifted the IPL trophy six times. The middle-order batter won three titles with MI (2013, 2015, 2017) before adding three more with CSK (2018, 2021, 2023).

Across his IPL career, Rayudu scored 4348 runs in 204 matches at an average of 28.23 and a strike rate of 127.54, including one century and 22 half-centuries.
