New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy has overtaken Akeal Hosein as the No.1 ranked bowler in T20Is rankings, on April 3 (Thursday). Duffy’s significant promotion at the top has come on the back of his sparkling display against Pakistan in the five-match T20I series, where he picked up 13 wickets.
His 4/14 has helped him significantly leapfrog bowlers, rising four spots to become the new No.1 ranked bowler. As it stands, Hosein, Varun Chakaravarthy, Adil Rashid and Wanindu Hasaranga make the top five list of bowlers in the shortest format.
While not just being a personal first, Duffy has now become the first New Zealand pacer to hold the No.1 ranking in T20Is since 2018 when Ish Sodhi held that. On the batting front, too, there have been some significant changes, as Tim Seifert has risen up five spots to enter the top ten rankings at No.8.
There’s no change at the top, however, as Australian opener Travis Head holds the position of being the No.1 T20I batter, closely followed by his Sunrisers Hyderabad opening partner, Abhishek Sharma (2). England's Phil Salt completes the top three.
