Ravindra Jadeja’s move to Rajasthan Royals (RR) after a 13-year stay at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is not going to be a promotion, rather a demotion for the 36-year-old in terms of his paycheck value.
While at the CSK, the all-rounder was paid an IPL fee of INR 16 Cr per season, he would get only INR 14 Cr in the Blue and Pink of the Royals. At Jaipur, where Jadeja began his career under the leadership of Shane Warne and was there for the first two years.
Post RR, the southpaw was banned for one year as he wanted to have a deal with Mumbai Indians and broke the players’ guidelines, which resulted in his ban. From 2012 till 2025, he stayed with CSK (two years with Gujarat Lions when CSK were banned).
Sanju Samson, who was traded to CSK in place of Jadeja, will continue to receive INR 18 Cr as his IPL fees. To acquire Samson, CSK even gave away Sam Curran, who too, will receive his IPL 2025 price of INR 2.9 Cr, despite the move to RR.
Talking about Jadeja’s acquisition, Kumar Sangakkara, Director of Cricket Rajasthan Royals, said, “Jadeja coming back to the Royals is incredibly special for all of us. He understands the franchise and the fans, having been part of RR's IPL-winning campaign.”
On November 15 (Saturday), all teams will release the list of players that they have retained ahead of the IPL 2026 IPL mini auction.
