Jalal Younis has resigned as the BCB director and the chairman of cricket operations committee according to a report on ESPNCricinfo. The National Sports Council had asked him to step down from his role.
"I have resigned for the greater interest of cricket," he told ESPNcricinfo.
"I am all for cricket running properly and correctly. I am alright with their intention to replace me as per the constitution. I don't want to be a stumbling block for cricket's progress."
A former fast bowler, Yunus has been involved in vital roles within the BCB since 2009 and was elevated to head of cricket operations in December 2011.
The NSC can now choose the replacement for Yunus. 58-year-old Faruque Ahmed, the former Bangladesh captain and someone who has been the chief selector on a couple of occasions, is likely to be NSC's choice to succeed Yunus as the BCB director.
There are also reports circulating that Nazmul Hassan could step down as BCB president if asked to. It is understood that he has fled the country and is currently in London following the violence in Bangladesh following PM Sheikh Hasina's resignation.
