James Anderson Joins LSG-Owned Manchester Originals For The Hundred 2025

Anderson was picked up in the wildcard draft of The Hundred 2025 today

James Anderson will turn 43 in 15 days’ time, but the legendary pacer continues to break new ground as he has signed up to play for Manchester Originals in The Hundred, and will be making his debut in the competition come the 2025 edition. Anderson was picked up in the wildcard draft of The Hundred 2025 today.

The 42-year-old retired from Test cricket last year but 2025 has seen him restart his T20 career after a 11-year hiatus. And he’s been in outstanding form in the Vitality Blast 2025 for Lancashire, having taken 14 wickets at an economy of 7.75. In fact, at the start of June, Anderson went on a tear in the Blast and took three 3+ wicket hauls in the space of four matches.

In February this year, Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group, the owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), acquired a 49 per cent stake in the Manchester-based franchise. The 2024 season saw the Originals finish seventh out of eight teams.

The 2025 edition of The Hundred will kick off on August 5th. At Manchester, Anderson will be joining some T20 powerhouses such as Jos Buttler, Phil Salt and Heinrich Klaasen.
