Jamie Overton, the brother of England international Craig Overton, has been added to the Three Lions’ squad for the third and final Test of the series at Headingley, starting June 23rd.
Overton has been enjoying a fine season for Surrey in Division 1 of the County Championships, having picked 21 wickets at 21.61 a piece, and the 28-year-old, earlier this week, was in the spotlight for his hostile spell against Somerset in which he hit two batters, including his brother Craig, on the head. Overton, against Somerset, finished with match figures of 5/90 as Surrey completed a three-wicket win.
Having added an extra yard of pace to his bowling, the right-armer has been included in the England squad for the third Test in Leeds. This is Overton’s maiden international call-up, and he joins his brother Craig in the squad.
Barring the inclusion of Jamie Overton, the only other change in the squad is the omission of leggie Matt Parkinson. The hosts are 2-0 up in the series and will be eyeing a series whitewash at Headingley.
