At 84/4, England were in all sorts of trouble before Jamie Smith bailed them out with the third-fastest Test century for the country, in the second Test on July 4 (Friday) at Edgbaston. The wicketkeeper brought up his second Test century, with his first century coming against Sri Lanka in Manchester.
Smith’s century was one filled with great attacking strokes, with 14 boundaries and three sixes. The wicketkeeper also smashed 23 runs off Prasidh Krishna’s over, putting the Karnataka pacer in an unwanted list. But after the half-century, Smith continued his blazing form, smashing every bowler who came his way.
