Just after returning to the squad for the ODI series against India, Jason Holder had to miss out the 1st ODI in Port of Spain after being infected with Covid-19. Skipper Nicholas Pooran informed the same during the toss. "Unfortunately Jason [Holder] has Covid so he misses out," Pooran said during toss.
Holder had been rested for the three-match series against Bangladesh in Guyana, which they lost 3-0 but the selectors wanted to use his experience in the India series, with a lot riding on the outcome.
While Holder had to miss the first game, there is no official clarification regarding his availablity for the remainder of the series. Kyle Mayers made a comeback to the XI after missing out on the final match against Bangladesh earlier this month. West Indies have Romario Shepherd to take the all-rounder's spot.
