Jasprit Bumrah back in ODI squad for Sri Lanka series

The right-arm pacer has been included in the squad for the three-match ODI series after passing the mandatory fitness test

The Men in Blue have received a massive boost ahead of their white-ball series against Sri Lanka as premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been declared fit after completing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy. Bumrah has been added in the squad for the three-match ODI series against the Lankans and will is expected to join the team soon.

The 29-year-old has been out of cricketing action since September 2022 and missed the T20 World Cup Down Under due to a recurrent back injury. However, the BCCI stated that he has passed the mandatory fitness test at NCA and has been added to the squad for the three games starting January 10 at Guwhati.

"The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon," stated the official press release from the board.

With the ODI World Cup scheduled to take place in India later this year, Rohit Sharma and the team management would be hoping for Bumrah to regain optimum fitness and form ahead of the marquee event.

India will compete in a three-match ODI series on January 10, 12 and 15 at Guwahati, Kolkata and Trivandrum, respectively.

India’s squad for Sri Lanka ODIs:
