Jasprit Bumrah's availability of the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy was confirmed by fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj.
Bumrah, who has picked 12 wickets in two Tests of this series so far, has been in great form with the ball. However, his workload management has meant that it was pre-decided that he would play only three Tests in the series. Notably, if he plays in Manchester, it would be his third Test in the series.
Siraj also said in the press conference that India’s combination isn’t fixed for the Manchester Test with many injuries in the squad, including Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep. He also added that despite all the confusion, the plan would be to bowl in good areas for the Indian pacers.
“Jassi (Bumrah) bhai will play only, that’s what we know for now. But the combination is changing day by day,” Siraj said, as quoted by India Today.
“So our only plan is that as much as possible, considering England’s batting attack, our only plan is to bowl in good areas and hit there. Because they batted with a lot of patience. Because in the last match, if you see, they batted with a lot of patience.
“So we also felt good that yes, now the real fun of Test cricket is coming. So this is our only plan—bowl in good areas. Whatever they do, that’s theirs. But our only plan is to bowl in good areas.”
The Indian pacer didn’t offer much details about Akash Deep’s injury, and said that he did bowl, although his selection isn’t certain.
“When we talked about Akash Deep, something has happened in his groin, so the physio is checking him,” Siraj added.
“So today morning he bowled as well. Right now, don’t know, haven’t got the feedback from physio because I was practising then, so we’ll get to know. So Anshul has come into the team. Arshdeep had an injury in the hand, but yeah Anshul has come.”
The fourth Test will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23.
