Jasprit Bumrah rubbishes 'bed rest' reports, says 'fake news' laughable

The 31-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) to address injury rumours

India’s talisman Jasprit Bumrah has taken to social media to deny reports of him being advised ‘bed rest’ following picking up a back injury in the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney.

A Times of India report claimed that Bumrah was facing a race against time to be fit for the Champions Trophy after being advised bed rest till the swelling in his back reduces. The report claimed that there was uncertainty over when Bumrah will start his rehab at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.

But the 31-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) to rubbish the rumours.

“I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable,” Bumrah wrote.

There will be more clarity over Bumrah’s fitness and availability once the BCCI announce the 15-man provisional squad for the Champions Trophy. The board are expected to announce the squad by January 18.

India will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20.
