As was expected, Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the Team India squad for the fourth Test of the five match India England Test series.
The BCCI press release mentioned, "The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and amount of cricket he has played in recent times.”
Bumrah has been India’s ace pacer and is the series' leading wicket-taker, with 17 wickets. However, the fact that he has bowled 80.5 overs to get those wickets is concerning for the team management, which has resulted in him being rested for the Ranchi Test.
The press release also mentions that KL Rahul has been ruled out of the Ranchi Test, and his participation in the fifth Test at Dharamshala is subject to fitness.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Kumar has also joined the squad for the fourth Test.
India’s squad for the Ranchi Test: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
