Jayant Yadav, who is part of India's Test squad for the tour of South Africa has been asked to stay back in the country after Washington Sundar returned with a positive Covid-19 test, according to reports.
Sundar, who tested positive in Bangalore was due to fly out to South Africa, along with Shikhar Dhawan, Suryakumar Yadav, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Ruturaj Gaekwad, Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, Venkatesh Iyer, Ishan Kishan and Yuzuvendra Chahal from Mumbai on Wednesday (January 12).
Sundar was supposed to go through a three-day quarantine in Mumbai and upon his arrival in South Africa, he had to undergo three more days in quarantine before joining the Indian team after the third Test in Cape Town.
“Sundar has tested positive and he has been isolated from other players. All other players’ reports came negative. They are undergoing a three-day quarantine period. Once they get three negative reports, these players will go into the Indian team bubble,” a BCCI official said.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are the other two spinners in the squad, with the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel out due to injuries.
