Jhye Richardson out of BBL for three weeks due to hamstring strain

The fast bowler will need rehabilitation for his minor injury and will feature for the Perth Scorchers if they qualify for the finals

Perth Scorchers suffered a massive blow ahead of their fixture against Brisbane Heat on Saturday, January 7th, as Aussie international Jhye Richardson is ruled out for atleast two-three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.

The fast bowler underwent subsequent scans to determine the extent of the injury, and the reports suggest a minor strain.

Adam Voges shared an update on the speedster ahead of their crucial clash and said, "It's on the very minor end of hamstring strains, two to three weeks. We're certainly hopeful that we'll see him before the end of the tournament again," he said as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.

"I think you need to be cautious, certainly with someone of Jhye's calibre. But we've got a world-class medical staff here. And I'll trust them to put the work in with Jhye over the next two weeks. And hopefully, we'll see him back, and we'll get him back on the park as soon as possible," he further added.

While Richardson's absence will be a big miss, Scorchers will have the services of Lance Morris, who has joined the squad after being released from the Test team.

"We'll see how he pulls up. He's done a heap of work, obviously, preparing for Test match cricket. I know he's had a white ball in his hand over in Sydney in the last couple of days, starting to prepare to come back to us. So we'll see how he pulls up from his plane trip today. There's every opportunity for him tomorrow," he concluded.
