Jhye Richardson ruled out of IPL 2023

The Australian paceman, who underwent surgery to overcome his hamstring issues, could miss the Ashes as well

Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League and is all but set to miss the Ashes as well after undergoing surgery to overcome his hamstring issues.

The right-arm paceman from Australia suffered a left hamstring injury in the Big Bash League and missed the majority of the season for Perth Scorchers in their title-winning campaign.

While he was declared fit, the 26-year-old suffered a recurrence of the injury while playing club cricket on the weekend, subsequently ruling him out of the three-match ODI series against India.

"Injuries are a big part of cricket, that's a fact. Frustrating? Absolutely,” Richardson tweeted.

"But I'm now in a scenario where I can get back to doing what I love and work bloody hard to become an even better player than before. One step back, two steps forward. Let's do this."

Richardson was picked by Mumbai Indians for INR 1.5 crore. The five-time winners will also be without their ace paceman Jasprit Bumrah.
