Jofra Archer finally turned a corner in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a wicket-maiden against Chennai Super Kings on March 30 (Sunday). The Barbados-born England pacer hadn’t picked up an IPL wicket in 699 days, but come the biggest challenge against CSK, he turned up clutch.
Archer bowled with brilliant control and steam in the first over, beating the in-form Rachin Ravindra three balls in a row before getting his man off the fourth delivery. The speedster moved the ball yet again from the southpaw, who, on this occasion, just got a healthy edge, straight to the hands of the wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.
It was the first-ever maiden of IPL 2025, and incidentally, it was a wicket maiden. Prior to this encounter, Archer hadn’t had the best of outings, turning up with figures of 0/189 across his last 14.3 overs.
Archer’s last wicket in the competition came against his current team, Royals, back in IPL 2023.
