Jonty Rhodes Questions Delhi's Air Quality, Says He's Happy To Live In Goa

However, the BCCI has organised a Ranji Trophy encounter between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir in such bad air quality

South African cricket great Jonty Rhodes has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating air quality in India’s capital. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rhodes expressed relief that he stays in a coastal village in South Goa, and not the polluted conditions in the national capital.

“Passing through Delhi en route to Ranchi this evening, and as always, it’s hard to digest the low levels of air quality here. Am grateful to be living in a small fishing village in South Goa ##AQI #whats2Bdone,” Rhodes tweeted.

Rhodes, widely regarded as one of the best fielders in cricket history, resides with his family in Goa but was recently passing through New Delhi. His message reflects a broader alarm over the worsening environmental conditions in the national capital, as protests began on November 9 at the India Gate. What's even more shocking is that a Ranji Trophy encounter between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir is happening at the Arun Jaitley Stadium despite the air being ‘hazardous’ to breathe.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 354 (“very poor”) on November 10 (Monday) morning, marking the lowest of the season so far, as per reports in India Today.

The smoggy conditions coincided with a sharp drop in temperatures to around 11.7 °C, bringing a dense blanket of pollution across the city. Parents, children and environmental activists gathered at India Gate to protest, demanding urgent government action to combat the capital’s toxic air crisis.
