Jorfa Archer to give IPL 2021 a miss

The England fast bowler underwent surgery on his finger recently

England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, the ECB said in a statement. Archer underwent surgery on his middle finger and returned to light training only recently. The England and Sussex medical teams will continue to monitor his progress.

"Archer will now step up his training regime starting next week and will be in full training with Sussex. It is expected that he will return to cricket in the next fortnight if he can continue to bowl and prepare pain-free," the ECB release said."

It is without a doubt a blow to RR, who do not have the services of Archer, after he had an excellent season last year, pciking up 20 wickets at an economy rate of 6.55. His effort earned him the MVP of the season.

The England fast bowler was in India ahead of the IPL and played a couple of Tests, five T20Is but did not take part in the three-match ODI series. He flew home instead to attend to his finger, which he injured while cleaning his house ahead of the India tour.
