JSK’s Aaron Phangiso reported for suspect bowling action

Phangiso will still be allowed to bowl till a verdict comes out

Joburg Super Kings’ left-arm spinner and wild-card signing, Aaron Phangiso has been reported for suspect bowling action during the franchise’s clash against Pretoria Capitals on Tuesday. According to the guidelines of the tournament, the issue will now be passed on to the Bowling Action Panel, who will judge the matter.

The panel consists of Gerrie Pienaar, match-referee representative, former South African seamer Vernon Philander and CSA’s High-Performance Manager Vincent Barnes. Whilst the panel has seven days to review the video footage of the left-arm spinner, he will continue to bowl for the Super Kings.

It isn’t the first time that the left-arm spinner has been reported for suspect bowling action, with the first instance way back in 2016, during the semi-final of the Momentum One Day Cup in 2016 against the Warriors. Phangiso was one of the key bowlers in JSK’s win over PRC, with figures of 4/32 from his four overs.
