In an extraordinary runfest at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow which has so far seen over 1,050 runs fall for the loss of just 13 wickets, both Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel made the most of their opportunity as the pair smashed daddy hundreds in the first unofficial Test against Australia ‘A’.
While Padikkal amassed 150 off 281 balls, Jurel played a much quicker knock as he got 140 off just 197 balls, smashing 13 fours and 4 sixes. Together, the duo added 228 runs for the fifth wicket as India ‘A’ responded in style to the 532/6 (dec) Australia ‘A’ posted batting first.
There were other big scores in the innings too, as the Tamil Nadu pairing of Narayan Jagadeesan (64) and Sai Sudharsan (73) both posted fifties but were unable to turn that into three-figure scores. The only batter who missed out was skipper Shreyas Iyer, who could just post 8 and was the only Top 6 batter to not cross the 40-run mark.
For Australia ‘A’, at the time of writing this, Western Australia off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli (3/159) was the only bowler that ended up picking multiple wickets. He dismissed Padikkal, Iyer and Tanush Kotian.
Earlier, in the first innings, Sam Konstas (109) and Josh Philippe (123*) had posted tons for the visitors. Harsh Dubey (3/141) was the pick of the bowlers for India ‘A’.
