Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) without their key bowler Kagiso Rabada. Rabada, one of the better bowlers in the PBKS season (11 wickets @33.82), has returned to South Africa due to a lower limb soft tissue infection.
For the same reason, Rabada missed Punjab’s previous fixture at Dharamsala against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). According to Cricket South Africa (CSA), the pacer has already consulted a specialist and will be closely monitored in the upcoming days.
“The 28-year-old consulted a specialist on arrival in South Africa and is being closely monitored by the Cricket South Africa medical team. His preparation for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA are not expected to be affected,” read CSA’s post on X.
Earlier, PBKS’ assistant coach Brad Haddin confirmed that the duo of Rabada and Liam Livingstone would be unavailable for the rest of the season.
“Yeah, there will be (changes to the Playing XI). We know Rabada’s gone home injured, so we’ve got to find a replacement. Liam Livingstone has also been called back by the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board). There’ll be a change there also,” Haddin said.
