Karnataka registered their biggest win in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) as they chased down 383, the second-highest successful run chase in the tournament's history.
The feat was achieved against Mumbai on December 21 (Saturday) at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Stadium in Motera during the first match for both teams in the VHT 2024-25.
KL Shrijith was the game-changer for the Karnataka team as they hunted down the target with 3.4 overs to spare. Shrijith scored 150 off just 101 balls while getting useful support from KV Avneesh (82 off 66) and Pravin Dubey (65 off 50) on either side of his knock.
Karnataka openers, skipper Mayank Agarwal (47) and Nikin Jose (21 off 13) gave the pedestal at which the batters coming after them built and went on to achieve the record-breaking feat. The highest successful run chase in VHT history is in the name of Andhra Pradesh, where they chased down 384 in 48.4 overs against Goa in 2012.
Earlier, Mumbai, riding on the century from skipper Shreyas Iyer (114 off just 55 balls) and half-centuries from Ayush Mhatre (78) and Shivam Dube (63), managed to reach 382/4.
