Karun Nair, on January 3 (Friday), registered the world record for most List A runs scored without getting dismissed. Playing for Vidarbha, the right-hander smashed 112 off 101 against Uttar Pradesh at Vizianagaram in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Nair’s century helped Vidarbha chase down a target of 308 with more than two overs to spare. In the process, the 33-year-old set a record of 542 runs without being dismissed.
Nair went past James Franklin, who got 527 runs in 2010 without getting dismissed. Joshua van Heerden (512), Fakhar Zaman (455) and Taufeeq Umar (422) are the next three on the list.
The former Karnataka man has been in stunning form in the 2024-25 VHT, having smashed 542 runs at an average of 542 runs. After scoring 112*, 44*, 163* and 111* in the first four encounters, Nair finally got out against UP, but only after scoring his fourth ton of the season.
Vidarbha have won all their fixtures so far and are currently at the top of the Group D points table.
