Nair was one of the main reasons why Vidarbha won the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy season, where he scored 863 runs, including two half-centuries and four centuries. Not just in the red-ball format, Nair was also influential in Vidarbha reaching the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024 final, scoring 779 runs. It was his stint with Vidarbha which forced the selectors to pick him for the upcoming five-match Test series against England, starting June 20 (Friday).
He will return to Karnataka for the first time since the 2023/24 season and will bolster Karnataka’s middle-order.
Not just that, Vidarbha will also be without their star wicketkeeper batter, Jitesh Sharma, who is reportedly set for a move to Baroda. Cricbuzz further reported that Jitesh’s transfer will be completed within a day or two.
It is reported that Jitesh will be part of Baroda’s red-ball and white-ball teams.
