After opting to bat first, Scotland’s captain and all-rounder Kathryn Bryce smashed 131, the highest score for Scotland women against Ireland women, on April 18 (Friday). Scotland were early trouble, at 1/1 as Pippa Sproul walked back to the dressing room.
Maryam Faisal also departed after a 20-ball 4, putting a lot of pressure on the Bryce sisters, Kathryn and Sarah. A few deliveries later, the choice to bat first was under more scrutiny when they lost Sarah for an eight-ball four. But from thereon, it was a one-woman effort from Kathyrn, who spearheaded the entire batting unit alongside the likes of Katherine Frase (33) and Priyanaz Chatterji (26) to take Scotland to 268/7 after their stipulated 50 overs.

Kathryn smashed an unbeaten 137-ball 131, which broke Saskia Horley’s score (100), with the best-ever score for Scotland Women, and her first-ever century for the national team. It was only the second-highest individual score for a Scotland captain, just eight shy of Preston Mommsen’s 139*.
