Kent sign Aussie quick Kane Richardson for T20 Blast

The fast bowler will join the squad ahead of their opening fixture and is set to be available for the entire season

One of the most dominant sides in T20 cricket around the England circuit, Kent has announced the signing of Australian fast bowler Kane Richardson ahead of the upcoming T20 Blast season.

The right-arm pacer is known for his death bowling abilities and has been around the Australian squad for a number of years. In the 35 games played thus far for Australia, Richardson has scalped 44 wickets at an average of 23.29.

The 31-year-old featured in the last edition of the Hundred for the Birmingham Phoenix and picked 13 wickets in seven games at an average of 13.15.

In a statement from Kent, Richardson said, "Kent have a great T20 pedigree, and I'm looking forward to the challenge of performing in the Vitality Blast for the first time."

"I know the club has won both English white-ball titles in the last two years, and it'll be my job to help us continue this hot run of form in 2023," he further added.

The director of cricket for Kent, Paul Downton, shared insights on the impact Richardson's presence will have on the young seamers and said, "We're really excited to have Kane join us for the whole T20 competition this year."

"He's an established international bowler who will bring a vast amount of experience to the club. His skill set is up there with the best, and he will be an invaluable source of information to our young and developing seamers." he further added.

Kent will start their campaign against Gloucestershire on May 24 at home and end their league stage with an away fixture against Somerset on July 2.
