Kevin Pietersen Drops Bomb On Prithvi Shaw – Learn From Sarfaraz Khan

Despite having a stunning record in red-ball cricket, Sarfaraz was often criticised for being overweight

After not being picked in the Indian Test squad for the ongoing tour of England, Sarfaraz Khan has been putting in some serious work off the field and has lost 17 kilos. Despite having a stunning record in red-ball cricket, the 27-year-old has often been criticised for being overweight.

Sarfaraz, who averages 65.98 in first-class cricket, has featured in six Tests for India, scoring 371 runs at an average of 37.10. All of his Tests have come in India, as the team management reportedly believes he doesn’t have the technique to survive overseas.

However, his first-class record says otherwise. Sarfaraz has played five red-ball games in South Africa and England and has smashed 279 runs at an average of 69.75. The right-handed batter from Mumbai is doing everything in his control to get back into the Test set-up.

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen was highly impressed with Sarfaraz’s transformation and wants Prithvi Shaw to learn from his former Mumbai teammate.

"Outstanding effort, young man! Huge congrats and I’m sure it’s going to lead to better and more consistent performances on the field. I love the time you’ve spent reorganising your priorities," KP wrote on 'X'.

"Can someone show Prithvi this please? It can be done! Strong body, strong mind!"

Once hailed as the next big thing in Indian cricket, Shaw has since drifted off the radar due to recurring fitness issues, disciplinary concerns, and a dip in form.

Shaw, who last played for India in 2021 and went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, recently admitted that he made some “wrong decisions and friends” that led to his downfall.
