Kolkata Knight Riders started out as the team to beat with Andre Russell in devastating form but have been on a downward spiral in the last couple of games.
On Friday, the loss to Delhi Capitals by seven wickets at the Eden Gardens was their second in two games after going down to Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium by the same margin.
Kolkata will look to extract revenge on Sunday as MS Dhoni and co come knocking at the Eden.
Chennai have been rather prolific towards the back end of the innings despite going for quite a few against Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals.
With the absence of Dwayne Bravo and a specialised death over specialist, Dhoni has done well in marshalling his resources and even getting Deepak Chahar, predominantly a Powerplay bowler, to chip in later on in the innings.
If CSK are at one end of the spectrum in terms of bowling, their opponents have been in smashing form in terms of their batting.
Largely thanks to Andre Russell’s purple patch, KKR have been scoring at a phenomenal rate between overs 16 and 20.
Averaging over 100 (100.67) Russell has struck at 212.68 and accumulated 302 runs to single handedly propelled KKR to some big totals throughout the tournament.
With the pitch at Eden Gardens being batting friendly this season, another high scoring affair will be on the cards. With KKR having issues upfront, the eventual game changer is once again going to be how Chennai can put the skids on Russell and negate his threat.
Injury updates: KKR rang in the changes during their clash with Delhi and the fitness of Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine will be vital to their chances ahead of Sunday.
Apart from Bravo, who is out with a hamstring issue, Chennai have a whole squad to pick from.
KKR: Chris Lynn/Joe Denly, Sunil Narine/Carlos Brathwaite, Robin Uthappa, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Prasidh Krishna
CSK: Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Scott Kuggelijn, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir
