In Match 35 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 19 (Saturday), KL Rahul became the fastest Indian batter to 200 sixes in the tournament's history.
The DC wicketkeeper-batter got to the landmark in his 129th IPL innings, breaking Sanju Samson’s record (159) by a fair margin. Overall, Rahul became the third-fastest after the West Indian duo Chris Gayle and Andre Russell.
129 innings - KL Rahul
159 innings - Sanju Samson
165 innings - MS Dhoni
180 innings - Virat Kohli
Rahul became the sixth Indian batter to slam 200 sixes in the IPL after Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Samson and Suresh Raina. There are five more overseas batters with 200 sixes.
Rahul, who walked out to bat at No.3, touched the 200-six mark off Mohammed Siraj, smoking a half-volley for a massive six down the ground.
The 33-year-old hit 28 off 13 deliveries, smashing four fours and a six, before falling to a stunning yorker from Prasidh Krishna.
