On Day 1 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, KL Rahul became only the fifth Indian batter to score more than 1000 runs in England.
Sachin Tendulkar (1575 runs), Rahul Dravid (1376), Sunil Gavaskar (1152) and Virat Kohli (1096) are the only other Indian batters with 1000 runs in England.
Rahul crossed the 1000-run mark with a boundary off Chris Woakes in the seventh over.
The stylish batter from Karnataka first toured England in 2018 and scored 299 runs across five games at an average of 29.9, with one century to his name.
He bettered those numbers in 2021 (315 in 4 Tests @ 39.38), but has been in an even better form in the ongoing series. So far, the right-hander has crafted 394 runs @ 65.33 and has already hit two centuries and one fifty.
This is also the most runs Rahul has scored in a Test series.
Rahul has four centuries in England. Dravid is the only one with more hundreds (6) in England than KL. Apart from England, India is the only other country (1149 runs @ 39.62) where Rahul has 1000 Test runs.
