KL Rahul Likely To Be Considered For Bangladesh T20Is: Report

The wicketkeeper-batter has slammed 493 runs at a strike rate of close to 150 in the IPL 2025

KL Rahul, who has been in stunning form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, might be considered for a three-match T20I series in Bangladesh in August, reported the Times of India on May 19 (Monday). The wicketkeeper-batter last played a T20I for India in 2022.

In 11 innings for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2025, Rahul has slammed 493 runs at an average of 61.62 and a strike rate of close to 150. He has three fifties and a century to his name, and has batted in three different positions for DC.

In seven innings at No.4, Rahul has managed 219 runs at an average of 36.5 and a strike rate of 136, while the right-hander has 85 runs at a strike rate of 151.8 across two innings at No.3. Rahul has also opened twice in the IPL 2025, managing scores of 112* and 77.

Rahul opened the innings against Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 18 (Sunday) and hit 112* off 65 deliveries at a strike rate of 172.31, studded with 14 fours and four maximums. Despite his knock, DC lost the game by 10 wickets.

More importantly, Rahul has the most runs for an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in the IPL 2025. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel and Jitesh Sharma haven’t quite set the stage on fire and have been below-par compared to Rahul.

India are scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in Bangladesh. With the T20 World Cup happening in India and Sri Lanka in February-March next year, Rahul could very well find himself in the mix of things.
