Mumbai Indians had the worst possible start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with four losses in their first five games. They lost their opening clash against CSK and then followed it with losses against GT and LSG before losing against LSG in the away leg.
However, what has happened since then has been nothing short of amazing. The five-time IPL champions have transformed their season, winning against DC, SRH, CSK, and SRH to climb up the ladder to third spot with ten points.
In the aftermath of another convincing seven-wicket win against SRH, skipper and all-rounder Hardik Pandya revealed that he knew that MI will dominate IPL once every player starts clicking.
“Good to have a win. Glad the boys are taking the momentum in the right way.. I've felt, once everyone starts clicking in this team, there will be domination,” Pandya said after the clash in the post-match presentation.
It was quite an outstanding show from MI’s new ball bowlers - Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult - who picked up six wickets between them. Chahar bowled four overs on the trot, ending with spells of 2/12.
“Deepak, Boult set it up; Rohit, SKY finished it. Overall, a wonderful win. Realised captaincy sometimes is about instincts, want to see and react and not always pre-plan. In a situation like this where he bowled wonderfully in the powerplay, then why hold his fourth over back?,” he added.
Boult, too, had his best outing in IPL 2025, finishing with figures of 4/26. The left-arm seamer, in the post-match presentation, reckoned that he must be ready to bowl at any phase.
“Nice to contribute to a good win in a big name. To keep a quality side down in their home conditions was the most satisfying. Deepak did a great job, nice to see a couple of catches being held,” Boult said.
“I'd love to bowl four in a row and swing it around, but it doesn't always happen. You have to be ready to bowl at whatever stage you're asked. Slightly different role this year, but I've enjoyed my time so far and want to continue.”
