Sri Lankan batter Kusal Mendis has been cleared to continue playing the second Test against Bangladesh after he complained of chest pain on Monday.
Mendis left the field during the 23rd over after suffering discomfort in his chest and was rushed to the hospital immediately.
According to ESPNCricinfo, Sri Lanka team manager Mahinda Halangoda said that Mendis' ECG test was clean as the doctors diagnosed it as muscle spasms. A Bangladesh Cricket Board physician to the website that he was suffering from dehydration leading into the match in Mirpur.
"It appeared he suffered from muscle spasm as diagnosis found nothing serious. It should not be a problem for him to keep playing," Rabeed Imam, the media manager of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), told AFP.
During the first Test, Bangladesh batter Tamim Iqbal retired due to cramps caused by the extreme heat in their first innings. On the fourth day of the same match, on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough had to hand over the duties to reserve umpire Joel Wilson as he took off the field.
