Jamieson achieves special record as he moves to 3rd in ICC Test rankings

Among the batters, Steven Smith has moved to third, leapfrogging Kane Williamson

Kyle Jamieson moves career-best third position in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers, which was issued on Wednesday (January 12). With eight wickets in the two-Test series against Bangladesh, Jamieson has accumulated 825 points.

Only four other Kiwi cricketers - Richard Hadlee (909 in November 1985), Neil Wagner (859 in December 2019), Tim Southee (839 in November 2021) and Trent Boult (825 in May 2015) - have attained these many points in Test history.

Among the batters Australia's Steven Smith leapfrogs New Zealand captain Kane Williamson to move into third, in a list that's headed by his teammate Marnus Labucshagne. Usman Khawaja, fresh from his twin centuries at SCG re-enters the rankings at 26th position.

Among the bowlers, Shaheen Afridi, Kagiso Rabada, James Anderson and Neil Wagner dropped down a place each, while Josh Hazlewood, who has not played since the first Ashes Test in Brisbane has dropped two places, but all remain in the top 10.

As far as India players are concerned, out-of-action India opener Rohit Sharma and skipper Virat Kohli continue to remain static at the fifth and ninth positions respectively in the latest ICC Test rankings for batters.

Ravichandran Ashwin also held on to his second spot in the Test all-rounders rankings, which is being led by West Indies Jason Holder.
