LA Olympics 2028: Cricket To Be A Six-Team Event

Both Men's and Women's teams can name a 15-member contingent for the event

Cricket is set to return to the Olympics for the first time in 128 years. Both Men and Women will participate in the event. The organisers have confirmed that cricket will be a six-team event, and all matches will be played in the T20 format.

A maximum of 90 players from each gender will be allowed to participate, meaning that every team — Men and Women — will be allowed to take a 15-member contingent to the Olympic games in Los Angeles in 2028.

The Olympic qualification process has yet to be determined. However, the USA, as the host, is expected to get direct entry into the event. Barring the US, five more teams are expected to make the cut.

It would certainly be difficult to determine which team goes through as there are over 100 teams that play T20 Internationals (T20I)

Cricket is among the five new sports introduced in the upcoming Olympics, along with baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse (sixes) and squash.
