Left-Arm Seamer’s Return Headlines Sri Lanka Squad For ODI World Cup In India
Veteran left-arm pacer Udeshika Prabodhani returned to the squad after a long hiatus
Sri Lanka women’s team have announced their squad for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup in India, with left-arm pacer Udeshika Prabodhani headlining the announcement.
Prabodhani is returning to the national team after a year-long injury hiatus. She last played for Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year. She had to take a break due to her hamstring injury, and now, she will make up Sri Lanka’s pace challenge at the World Cup along with Achini Kalasuriya and Malki Madara.
The other notable inclusion is batter Imesha Dulani, who can be slotted in later if any batter gets injured, as Sri Lanka’s batting order is mostly set with skipper Chamari Athapaththu, Hasini Perera, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Kavisha Dilhari, Nilakshi de Silva, Piumi Wathsala and Anushka Sanjeevani.
Sri Lanka’s spin attack is already quite potent with the likes of Dewmi Vihanga, Inoka Ranaweera and Sugandika Kumari, skipper Athapaththu and all-rounder Dilhari.
The Lankan women will play their first match of the World Cup in Guwahati on September 30, which will be the tournament opener.
