Wrap up
We have got two games tomorrow, Quetta Gladiators will first take on Lahore Qalandars before Peshawar Zalmi will come face to face against Karachi. That's it for now. Goodnight and stay safe!
ISL 191/2(18.4)

Shadab Khan (Islamabad skipper)
"It's a team game and when our top-order fails then our lower-order performs well, so I think everyone understands their roles well. Our intensity on the field wasn't great and that's not expected from a young team. If all the players give 100%, then the result will always be on our side."
ISL 191/2(18.4)
08:11 PM IST
Iftikhar Ahmed (Player of the Match)
"Our captain and coach ask us to play till the end, so I try to minimize dots and finish things off. We have to be adaptable to the batting position. I just want to perform for the team and I'm happy I've done that."
ISL 191/2(18.4)
08:05 PM IST
Imad Wasim (Karachi captain)
"If you drop catches, this will happen. We don't have many options with the ball, to be frank. It was harder for the spinners and I couldn't bowl all my overs because my finger was injured, and we need to talk about this, to be honest. We were 15-20 runs short and we should've targeted the bowlers a lot better. We played poorly, didn't take our catches, and if we don't play well enough, we can't expect results to go our way. Nothing to lose, so we'll definitely try to come back hard."

Three wins in a row
They have done it, Islamabad have once again pulled off a stunning chase. They chased down a target of 197 against Karachi in the first half of the tournament and have now hunted down a target of 191 against the same opponent. They lost Usman Khawaja and Muhammad Akhlaq inside six overs and were 43/2 at the end of the powerplay. That's when Colin Munro and Iftikhar Ahmed joined hands and dismantled Karachi with some fine strokeplay. Munro whacked 12 fours and two sixes in his 56-ball 88*, while Iftikhar smoked five fours and as many maximums in his 39-ball 71*. The two added 150* runs off 80 deliveries and finished the job with more than an over to spare. There was a lot of dew but Karachi also dropped a couple of catches. Islamabad have now won six of their eight encounters, while Karachi have lost four of their seven games. Earlier, Sharjeel Khan (17-ball 25) got Karachi off to a fiery start and allowed Babar Azam to settle in. However, the left-handed opener and Martin Guptill perished in quick succession but that's when Azam and Najibullah Zadran took over. The two took a couple of overs to get going and then put on 117 runs off 69 deliveries for the third wicket. Azam crafted seven fours and three sixes in his 54-ball 81, while Zadran clobbered five fours and four maximums in his 42-ball 71*. Karachi hit 99 runs in the last eight overs, but that didn't really make a difference at the end.

Game over!
Munro hits Amir for consecutive fours before Iftikhar scores the winning run. This was a superb chase from Islamabad and Munro and Iftikhar were simply ruthless. They win with eight deliveries to spare.

12 needed off 12
This is outstanding stuff from Munro and Iftikhar. The former slammed Maqsood for a boundary towards cow corner before Iftikhar slammed Abbas Afridi over extra cover for his fifth six. This match is almost over!
ISL 158/2(16.0)

Maiden PSL fifty for Iftikhar
This has been some knock! The right-hander gets to his fifty in style but there's still a job to be done. Got one on the pads and whipped it over deep backward square leg for his fourth six. He then guided the next delivery to the left of the short third man and accumulated four more runs. The two batsmen have now put on 117 runs for the third wicket. 33 needed off 24!

23 runs from the over!
There is a lot of dew and Thisara Perera is struggling to control the ball. Munro greeted him with a maximum down the ground and then followed it up with a boundary through the backward point region. Munro then slapped Perera through the cover region before hitting one straight to the fielder at long-off, but the ball was above the waist and he survived. Iftikhar then finished the over by smashing another six over long-off. This was a horrible over from Perera and Islamabad now need 57 off 36 deliveries. They now can't lose this one!

Dropped, and Munro makes Karachi pay
Abbas Afridi was brought back into the attack and the paceman would have got the big scalp of Munro if Maqsood wouldn't have dropped a sitter at long-on. Munro then hit Afridi for consecutive boundaries to add insult to injury. He then hammered Arshad Iqbal for two fours in the next over and completed his fifth PSL fifty. Iftikhar then joined the party and smacked Arshad over deep backward square leg for his second six. Karachi will have to be careful here. They need to break this partnership as soon as possible. 80 needed off 42!

Iftikhar goes big
Thisara Perera conceded only four runs in his first five deliveries before bowling a wide. The seamer had to bowl to an extra delivery and ended up bowling a high full-toss, which was smoked over deep square leg for a massive six. It was above the waist, should have been a no-ball too.

119 needed off 60
Munro and Iftikhar Ahmed have hit occasional boundaries but the two haven't managed to keep up with the required rate. Munro's strike rate is in the 120s, while Iftikhar is scoring at 100. The two will have to up the ante if Islamabad want to chase this total down. Almost 12 runs needed per over!

Shot!
Munro is slowly starting to get into his groove and Karachi will have to get rid of him as soon as possible. The left-hander first creamed Imad Wasim for a boundary towards cover and then pulled Arshad Iqbal over deep square leg for his first maximum.

Knocked over
Not a great start for Muhammad Akhlaq to his PSL career as the wicketkeeper-batsman has been knocked over for just 1 by Waqas Maqsood. The right-handed batsman tried to hit Maqsood down the ground but missed the line of the ball completely and got castled. This is a pretty good powerplay for Karachi as the required run rate has now gone up to 10.57.

Khawaja departs
The left-hander just couldn't get going and has been dismissed for 12 off 16 deliveries. Khawaja tried to slice a back-of-a-length delivery from Abbas Afridi but ended up hitting it straight to the fielder at third man. The paceman then followed it up with a bid wide and the wicketkeeper could get nowhere close to it. A wicket and 14 off the over. The onus is now on Munro to score big.

Dropped
Amir hasn't allowed Khawaja to get going and the left-hander would have been back in the hut if Arshad Iqbal wouldn't have dropped a catch at third man. The young man covered the ground, got two hands to the ball but couldn't hold onto it. The two openers will have to get going before it gets too late.

What a start!
Usman Khawaja looked clueless against Mohammad Amir on the first four deliveries as the left-arm paceman kept taking the ball away. Khawaja desperately went for a ramp shot and somehow managed to find the fine leg fence. Islamabad would want Khawaja and Colin Munro to once again get them off to a fiery start. Don't forget, the two slammed 137 runs in 10 overs against Quetta Gladiators on Friday.

Superb finish from Azam, Zadran
Sharjeel Khan (17-ball 25) got Karachi off to a fiery start and allowed Babar Azam to settle in. Karachi hit 99 runs in the last eight overs! The Islamabad batsmen will have to be at their best if they want to chase down this total.

Good final over from Ali Khan
Having been smashed for 28 runs in his first two overs, the right-arm paceman made a good comeback and conceded only six runs in the final over. Zadran looked a bit tired and couldn't play those big shots. This is still a massive total though!

Quality stuff from Azam
The right-hander finally departs in the penultimate over but that was some knock. Azam slammed seven fours and three sixes in his 54-ball 81 before finally mistiming a slower delivery from Hasan Ali. This also brings an end to the 117-run stand.

Zadran, take a bow!
The left-hander from Afghanistan has been outstanding tonight. He allowed Azam to take some time when he first came to the crease but the latter has been more dominant in the last few overs. The two have now put on over 100 runs for the third wicket. However, Zadran is now catching up and has completed his fifty. The 28-year-old smacked Wasim for two sixes and a four in the 18th over and Karachi would try to touch the 200-run mark.

400 runs for Azam in PSL 2021
Azam has gone past Mohammad Rizwan's tally of 408 runs and has become the leading run-scorer this season. He smashed Akif Javed for a four and a six and is looking in unbelievable format. His strike rate has almost gone up to 150.

Another fifty for Azam
This man keeps scoring and scoring and sco... The right-hander crafts Wasim for consecutive boundaries and completes his half-century off 41 deliveries. He has allowed Zadran to dictate terms but will now try to play those big shots. Last five overs coming up.

This is Zadran at his best
The left-hander from Afghanistan is taking the attack to Islamabad and has now put on over 50 runs with Azam. Zadran has completely dominated this stand so far. He smoked Shadab for two maximums - one over deep mid-wicket and then another over deep extra cover - in the 14th over. Karachi will look to score as many runs as possible in the last six over and at least get close to that 180-run mark.

Ali Khan taking a severe beating
The right-arm paceman hasn't been at his best tonight and the Karachi batsmen are making the most of it. He got slammed for 17 in his first over by Azam and has now been slapped for two boundaries by Zadran in his second over. A couple of short and wide deliveries and the left-hander had no trouble finding the fence.

Just the over Karachi needed
Karachi desperately needed a big over and they have finally got one. Azam first tried to slog sweep Shadab but failed to connect. However, the legspinner dropped one shot and Azam rocked back and smoked it over deep mid-wicket to get things moving. Zadran then finished the over with another boundary. They get 13 off this one and will give them some momentum.

Spinners take over
Karachi will have to rebuild a bit here and Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan have done well to keep Azam and Najibullah Zadran quiet in the last three overs. Karachi have only managed 13 runs in the last three overs and haven't scored a single boundary.

Guptill continues to disappoint
The New Zealand batsman has struggled to get going in this tournament and has been dismissed for just 6 tonight. There's a bit of extra pace and bounce on offer and Guptill failed to adjust. He tried to work Wasim towards third man but ended up dragging it back onto the stumps. There was a bit of inward movement too. The onus is now once again on Azam to bat till the end.

Azam shows his class
It was important for Azam to take over once Sharjeel perished and that's exactly what he did. The right-hander greeted Ali Khan by whipping him for a boundary through the leg-side and then whacked him over deep point for his first maximum. Azam hit two fours and a six in the final over of the powerplay and accumulated 17 off it. This is a solid start from Karachi!

Javed gets rid of Sharjeel
The left-hander was looking in some mood tonight but Akif Javed has taken care of him. Sharjeel whacked Mohammad Wasim Jr for a maximum in the fourth over but Javed has sent him back on 25. A bit of extra bounce and pace outside off and Sharjeel went hard at it, only to end up edging it to the wicketkeeper. This is the wicket Islamabad needed!

Sharjeel is up and running
Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam couldn't get Karachi off to a rapid start against Multan and that kind of cost them the game. However, Sharjeel has started well tonight. The left-handed opener got a wide delivery outside off from Hasan Ali and Sharjeel slammed it towards cover-point for a boundary. The paceman then went too leg side and got flicked for a maximum.

Build-up
Karachi Kings were right at the top of the points table in the first half of the tournament but have now slipped to No. 4 after losing their previous encounter against Multan Sultans. Meanwhile, Islamabad United are currently No. 1, having won five of their seven encounters. The United will be delighted with the news that Hasan Ali will be available for the rest of their campaign. The ace paceman was due to fly back on Sunday evening to attend to a personal family situation in Pakistan but has decided to stay with the team after the matter was resolved. For Karachi, Babar Azam scored 85* against Multan but still couldn't get the job done. However, the opener will have to be slightly more aggressive and will need more support from the likes of Martin Guptill, Najibullah Zadran and Sharjeel Khan. Their bowlers too have struggled big time this season.
