The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has seen a few of the oldest records being broken, and it only added much more to the already flavourful edition of the league. Here are the top three records broken in IPL 2025.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) showed tremendous courage when they defended 111 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 15 at the Maharaja Yadvinder Singh Stadium in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh). It was not the number of runs defended, but the way it was defended by the Punjab side.
Kolkata were 3/72 at one point, needing 40 more to win with seven wickets in hand and 65 balls to spare, but then Yuzvendra Chahal bowled one of his best spells ever and was fully supported by skipper Shreyas Iyer, who had one of the most attacking field settings for modern day T20. Eventually, KKR were bowled out for 95 and lost the game by a huge margin of 16 runs.
Abhishek Sharma, one of the dangerous opening batters in the game, got on a roll against Punjab Kings (PBKS), batting for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 12 as his team chased down 246 with nine balls to spare.
As a result of his devastating 141-run knock off just 55 balls, Abhishek became the proud record holder of highest individual score by an Indian batter in IPL history. He broke the record of KL Rahul, who had scored 132.
Priyansh Arya, one of the emerging stars of IPL 2025 smashed the fastest century by an uncapped player in history. He achieved the feat while playing against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 8 at Mullanpur.
On his way to a brilliant 103 off 42 balls, the 24-year-old reached the century mark in just 39 balls, getting past Rajat Patidar’s record of a 49-ball hundred, which he scored in IPL 2022 against KKR.
