Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) might have had a lacklustre performance in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, they yet again showed what makes them special in the tournament as they became the first team to chase a 200-plus total in Lucknow, which hasn’t always been a happy hunting ground for the batters in the tournament.
With this loss, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have just 10 points in 12 games, and are now eliminated from the playoff race altogether.
Earlier, SRH won the toss and decided to bowl first on a track which was looking very good to bat on. Mitch Marsh (65 off 39) and Aiden Markram (61 off 38) started off brilliantly, and added 115 runs in 10.3 overs for LSG. However, the batters to follow didn’t exactly raise the momentum from there, and SRH made a small comeback to restrict LSG to 205/7 at the end of 20 overs.
In reply, Atharva Taide fell early, but Abhishek Sharma (59 off 20) batted in characteristic fashion and gave SRH a fiery start yet again. Ishan Kishan (35 off 28) and Klaasen (47 off 28) did the rest and ensured that SRH cruised to the target and registered a consolation win late in the tournament.
