Mark Wood ruled out of IPL 2022: Report
The 32-year-old was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 7.5 crore
England's tearaway paceman Mark Wood has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League after suffering an injury on his right elbow during the first Test against West Indies in North Sound, ESPNcricinfo reported on Friday (March 18).
The 32-year-old was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 7.5 crore (USD 1 million approx.) at the mega auction in February. Lucknow, who will be making their debut in IPL 2022, haven't named a replacement yet.
Wood only bowled 17 overs in the first Test between England and West Indies before walking off the field.
The right-arm pacer has only featured in one IPL encounter so far, for Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians in 2018. Overall, Wood has taken 46 wickets in 40 T20s at a strike rate of 18.4 and an economy rate of 8.25.
The Super Giants do have Jason Holder and Dushmantha Chameera in their squad but the former will miss the first few games considering the West Indies-England Test series will only get over on March 28.
Lucknow will commence their IPL 2022 campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 28.
