Marnus Labuschagne has achieved a massive milestone, becoming the first-ever batter to score 1,000 runs in day-night Tests and has done so at an average of over 66. He achieved this feat during Day 2 of the second Ashes Test in Brisbane against England on December 5 (Friday).
1003* - Marnus Labuschagne (16 inns)
827* - Steve Smith (25 inns)
753 - David Warner (17 inns)
752 - Travis Head (16 inns)
Labuschagne played his first pink-ball Test in 2019 against the West Indies in Adelaide. He smashed all his four tons in day-night Tests in his first four matches. No player has more hundreds in D/NTests. Only Travis Head (3), Asad Shafique (2), Dimuth Karunaratne (2) and Joe Root (2) have multiple D/N Test centuries.
His teammates Steven Smith, Warner and Head are the next three highest run-getters in the format, with Joe Root with 639 runs the highest run-scorer among non-Australians.
Labuschagne was briefly axed from the Australian side, but some impressive performances in domestic cricket saw him return to the side.
Overall, the 31-year-old has more than 4,500 runs in Tests at an average in excess of 46, since making his debut in 2018. He has since played 60 Tests, 66 ODIs and one T20I for Australia.
