Marnus Labuschagne pips Joe Root to become the top-ranked Test batter

Following an excellent Ashes campaign so far, Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne becomes the top-ranked batter in the ICC Test rankings, pipping England skipper Joe Root.
Labuschagne scored his maiden Ashes ton in the day-night Test in Adelaide. His knocks of 103 and 51 earned him the player of the match award and as a result, Australia won the game by a massive 275-run margin to go 2-0 up in the series.
This is the first time Labuschagne has gone to the summit of the rankings and overall, he is the ninth Australian batter to cross 900 ranking points joining the likes of Sir Don Bradman, Ricky Pointing, Mathew Hayden, Steve Smith, Michael Clarke et.
He currently has 912 points to his name, with Root falling to 897 points, followed by Steven Smith (884), Kane Williamson (879) and Rohit Sharma (797).
Among the bowlers, Australia skipper Pat Cummins retained his place as the top-ranked bowler. However, Mitchell Starc is back in the top 10 for the first time since January. Josh Hazlewood, who missed the Adelaide Test along with Cummins, drops one spot to fifth.
In the T20Is, there is a tie between Dawid Malan and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam for the top spot. Both batters have accumulated 805 points, with Mohammad Rizwan gaining one spot and moving to third in the list.
