Massive Blow For RCB Ahead Of IPL 2026 As Batting Star Faces Long Injury Layoff

He is believed to have suffered a muscle tear and could be out of action for four months

In what comes as a blow for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), their captain and batting mainstay Rajat Patidar is expected to face a long injury lay-off, according to reports. Patidar, who led RCB to their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title earlier this year, is believed to have suffered a muscle tear during the unofficial Test against South Africa A.

As a result, the Madhya Pradesh batter is not part of India A's XI for their second unofficial Test, currently being played in Bengaluru. In the first game, which was also played at the same venue, Patidar scored 19 and 28 as India A won the match by three wickets.

It is speculated that he could be out of action for as many as four months, and there are growing concerns over his participation in the IPL as a result.

Before the South Africa A series, Patidar slammed a superb double century against Punjab in Indore in his only appearance this season.

In the IPL, Patidar has slammed 1,111 runs in 38 innings at an impressive strike rate of 154.30. He scored some vital runs in the middle order last season as well, finishing with 312 runs at a strike rate of 143.77.
