Matt Renshaw sent for scans after injury to right knee

Renshaw came for the warm-up on the second day but couldn’t continue after a while

Australian batter Matthew Renshaw has been sent for scans after complaining of soreness to his right knee on Day 2 of the first Test between India and Australia in Nagpur.

He came for the warm-up on the second day but couldn’t continue after a while. He then put an ice-pack on his knee before being sent to the hospital. Ashton Agar has been fielding for him since the first ball of the day.

This injury has come as a huge blow for the Aussies, who are suffering multiple cases of injuries way before the series began. They are missing their first-choice allrounder Cameron Green for this Test while Mitchell Starc is out with finger injuries and Josh Hazlewood is also unavailable with an Achilles complaint.

Renshaw played the Test ahead of in-form Travis Head, purely to increase the number of right-handers in the side. That, however, didn’t reap any dividends as the 26-year-old was dismissed for a golden duck by Ravindra Jadeja.

Australia were bundled out for 177 in the first innings and at the time of writing this report, India are in a pretty comfortable position scoring 137/3.
