Gujarat Titans (GT) wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has been reprimanded for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct during his side's eight-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Thursday (May 19).
Wade admitted to the level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.
Coming in at three, Wade scored 16 off 13 deliveries before he was trapped leg-before by his countryman Glenn Maxwell. He was visibly unhappy as he thought there was a clear spike on the ultra edge before the ball thudded onto the pads. Wade has not had the best of tournaments, having hit just 114 runs from eight innings at a strike-rate of 116.32.
Despite their loss against RCB, GT will finish the league stages of the IPL 2022 on top of the table with 20 points, while RCB still have a chance of making it to the playoff, if Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday (May 21).
