Max60 T10 Tournament CANCELLED Abruptly After Players Go On Strike For Non-Payment

Warner was among those participating in the tournament

The Max60 T10 Tournament in the Cayman Islands has been cancelled abruptly following the tournament organisers’ failure to pay the players.

According to the Australian publication Sydney Morning Herald, ‘contracted players had been entitled to be paid 50 per cent of their fees 30 days before the start of the tournament, and then the other 50 per cent to be paid within 15 days of the event’s conclusion.’

However, on the back of the organisers’ failure to honour the contract, the players are believed to have refused to take to the field, resulting in the entire tournament collapsing within a week after it began.

David Warner was the biggest high-profile name featuring in the competition, which also saw other established international stars such as Shakib Al Hasan, Alex Hales and Thisara Perera participating. Indian players such as Shahbaz Nadeem, Ankit Rajpoot and Rishi Dhawan were also part of the tournament.

“It’s very disappointing, what’s happened,” Warner told the Sydney Morning Herald following the tournament’s collapse.

According to the report, Australian and global players’ associations are now believed to be exploring legal action against tournament organisers BMP Sports.

A total of 20 matches were played in the tournament. It got shelved even before the knockouts began.
